When I started quilting 2 years ago everyone was making a red and aqua quilt, I only had 2 pieces of red fabric, one of them being a 5X5 (thats inches!), so I saved and stashed and made a hexagon one,
Roll Tide! I had scraps from past Alabama projects and used them on this queen sized chevron quilt, ahhhh football season.
This quilt was pieced by my great-great aunt 15 years ago just prior to her passing. My grandmother had me fix where it was coming apart and then quilt it for a Christmas present for another relative. It is densely quilted, I quilted for 3 days, 8+ hours each day. I did enjoy seeing fabrics from my past amongst the fabrics. I made the backing out of flannel remnants that were left from pajamas I'd made for the recipient in the past.
Let me start by saying I was PETRIFIED to make a hexagon quilt, I knew I would mess it up! Then I came across a tutorial here and she made it look so easy! I am planning another one soon just so I can be a little more adventurous and turn those babies!
The sewing room calls!
You are a no-reply blogger. You left a comment on my blog, but, I can't answer. I see that you still don't like to blog, after 4 years (your post). I only blog when I feel like it. I don't see any reason to blog on a schedule. Those blogs get boring.
ReplyDeleteYou may not blog often, but it's a fun read. I've been all the way back to the post about your daughter's trunk. Which is amazing, btw. I love that you restore old trunks. I should bring my dad's Navy trunk to Alabama. (I'm not far in LSU country.)
ReplyDeleteAs for blogging motivation, I try to post only a few times a week now. For a few years, I was challenging myself to post more often, but family tragedies occurred and slowed me down. I just blog for myself anyway. I think of it as my diary of quilting and important life events.
You are a wonderfully talented quilter! Your sister's quilt is definitely an advanced pattern. Hexies? Oh wow!
Thanks for visiting Fleur de Lis Quilts. I am so glad that you found me and I came for a visit. That's my usual way of replying to comments because it gives me a chance to get to know the person behind the "hello."
I visited because you stopped in at Lilypadquilting, and your settings are "no reply" so I couldn't just email you! LOL Loved seeing your quilts, your trunks, and all! Hope you and your family are doing well! Thanks for stopping by Lilypadquilting!
